Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes was told by doctors to get some rest

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes fainted at the low-cost carrier terminal yesterday but was later given a clean bill of health by doctors.

Fernandes was taken to the Pusrawi Medical Centre at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport main terminal by ambulance, where he was checked by doctors and then allowed to return home. A statement from AirAsia said he fainted after returning from Penang, where he attended the welcoming ceremony of the airline's inaugural Singapore-Penang flight earlier in the day. Present at the ceremony were Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai. "Doctors blamed it on exhaustion and advised him to get some rest," the statement said.
